Santa Monica Pier Summer Concert Series

2011-08-01 by Lindsay Taub

The Twilight Dance Series has been an annual fixture on the Santa Monica Pier since 1983, when it began with “Save the Pier Week” and has since become a hallmark of the Santa Monica community. Now in its 27th year, the summer concert series (a production of the Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corporation) is in full swing again presenting ten free concerts on the deck of the Santa Monica Pier. The series began July 7, and the crowds on the Pier and the beaches below are growing by the week, with the always-popular reggae night this past Thursday.

The concerts feature high-profile artists from all over the world, every Thursday night, from 7 to 10 p.m., bringing the westside of LA a treasured weekly live music experience. Each week showcases a different musical genre: The SaMo Mambo: Salsa, ‘80s Pop, Australia Rocks the Pier!, Reggae/Ska, La Monica Ballroom Then & Now, Making Waves: A Night of Surf Guitar, Tango on the Timbers, Americana, and New Orleans Funk and Blues.
