Los Angeles Ballet Closes Fifth Season with a Gala Celebration

The fifth season of the Los Angeles Ballet came to a close last week with a breathtaking performance of “Giselle” at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica. The year-long celebration concluded with a gala and fundraiser that brought out some of Los Angeles’ most noteworthy patrons of the arts, including former Governor of California Gray Davis, with co-chairs Ghada Irani, Lori Milken, and Jeanette Trepp at the helm.

The performance itself – choreographed by Thordal Christensen with music by the great French composer Adolfe Adam – was a rendition of the oldest of the great, romantic ballets that takes the audience on a stunning journey of the heartbreak of young love, tragedy, and redemption.

The elegance of the dance was mirrored by the grandeur of the gala, from the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the garden during intermission to the three-course meal after the performance, catered by legendary chef Wolfgang Puck with wine supplied by Hafner Vineyard.
